Description

The Bureau of Fantastical & Arcane Affairs is a comedic first-person exploration driven narrative adventure. As an inspector at the Bureau, the fate of this fable is in your hands. Do your job, fix the shambled story—or… don’t. The choice is yours. When you're done, step into the hero’s boots and see what sort of tale your work wrought. (It’s also a walking sim, but that was already a mouthful.)

Background

Solo Developed for almost a year, the game was born out of a passion for humor and choice-driven storytelling in games. Now, the team is comprised of over 40 volunteer junior game devs starved out by an industry where the number of jobs available to them continues to decrease. Our goal is to make a game that’s near impossible to ignore.

The inspector does the paperwork. The hero gets the glory. The player gets both. Your choices as the inspector have major impacts on the hero’s quests and the world itself. At least two playthroughs are recommended to get the full breadth of the experience.

Features

Impactful player choice-driven storytelling.

Fully voiced, funny dialouge.

Whoever said humor is subjective probably wasn’t very funny. We can’t promise a laugh-out-loud moment, but we can guarantee at least a few chuckles. Wit and humor sit at the game’s core, with a heap of heart poured over top, like syrup on a pancake. The cherry on that pancake? A cast of over 100 fully voiced characters brought to life by our talented actors.

A no handhold, non-sequitur explorable world.

No quest markers. No blinking waypoints. Just a world that rewards paying attention. If you want something circled on a map, grab a pen. We took a discovery-first approach to world design, densely packing it with delightful surprises for the curious player.

Beautiful hand- illustrated cutsceneses.

Best just to let the screenshot gallery speak for this one.
